KEEP THE TRADITION BREAK THE ADDICTION There’s a new traditional tobacco billboard in town! The billboard was created by Jen Banagas, Pala Tobacco Program Community Engagement Coordinator, and Pala Youth in collaboration with the Pala Casino’s marketing team. The group came together to remind everyone to respect and not abuse tobacco. REASONS FOR A SMOKEFREE ENVIRONMENT: • Protect everyone from the dangers of second- and third-hand smoke.

SMOKEFREE HOMES IN PALA 107 households in Pala have pledged to maintain a smokefree home since the beginning of the Pala Tobacco Program in November 2019. We would like to thank all who have pledged to maintain a smokefree home and who support a smokefree environment within the Pala Community.

On July 26, 2023, three Pala Tobacco Program Youth Ambassadors presented at the annual Southern California Inter-Tribal Tobacco Youth Summit. Participants from Pala, La Jolla, Rincon, San Pasqual, and the Indian Health Council attended the 2023 Summit held at the Rincon ballfields. In addition to educational presentations, the summit featured an early morning 5k run/walk event and bird singing. The Pala Tobacco Program Youth Ambassadors shared information and personal stories about the harmful effects of addiction and peer pressure and the healing effects of traditional tobacco.
