Technical Assistance (TA). CTPP-funded projects can submit a TA ticket using MatTrack. Our designers can customize almost any material in our catalog.

Meet Your Materials Team

TECC has an experienced team ready to help you develop effective materials for your local communities.

Jennifer Silver-Herman (she/her) Design Manager Jennifer supervises the design team and provides design support for catalogs and special projects.

Rachel Alvarez (she/her/ella) Program Manager Rachel oversees the programmatic goals for the TECC project. She has been working in tobacco education for several years and is passionate about educating our policymakers and communities about the harms of the commercial tobacco industry.

Kalena Fields (she/her) Graphic Designer Kalena designs new and revised educational materials and provides technical assistance to CTPP-funded projects.

Anabel Castañeda (she/her) Technical Assistance Coordinator Anabel works with CTPP

funded projects to coordinate the development of high-quality, accessible educational materials that reach their priority populations.

New Materials Our new materials address critical issues such as secondhand smoke exposure risks from tobacco products, the health risks of using hookah, and more. We’re excited to introduce a number of our popular materials translated into Spanish, Hmong, and Arabic.

NEW Smokefree Social Spaces

Emphasize the benefits of smokefree policies for LGBTQ+ bars and patios with this fact sheet that discusses how discrimination has contributed to higher tobacco use among LGBTQ+ people in California. Outdoor secondhand smoke is dangerous for bar patrons and especially for workers, who work hours-long shifts.

NEW Hookah Smoking in Latino Communities

This two-sided fact sheet addresses concerns about hookah for Latino youth and young adults, noting that one typical session delivers 200x the smoke of one cigarette. The fact sheet calls for people to talk to their elected officials and ask them to support laws that ban flavored hookah and reduce access to hookah.

This two-sided Spanish-language fact sheet informs the general public about tobacco product waste (TPW): what constitutes TPW, statistics about litter, the economic impact, fire danger, and the harmful toxins that leach into the environment. NEW Tobacco and Your Pregnancy, Hmong This supportive, attractive brochure encourages pregnant people to quit using tobacco. Information about the potentially harmful effects of tobacco is presented in a positive way that emphasizes the benefits of quitting for both parent and child. Includes information about the benefits of breastfeeding and links to cessation resources. The Hmong language brochure is designed to appeal to Asian American families. This Spanish-language brochure is designed for people in the LGBTQ+ community who want to quit using tobacco. Designed to be supportive and encouraging, it offers strategies for coping with urges and avoiding relapse. Also available in English (J640).

NEW Hooked on Hookah, Spanish

This two-sided Spanish-language fact card urges people to understand that using a hookah is using tobacco and that it’s just as addictive and harmful as the tobacco in cigarettes and other tobacco products. Hookah contains two times more nicotine than cigarette smoke, delivers 10 times the carbon monoxide of a cigarette, and has 69 toxins and chemicals that can cause cancer. UPDATED Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing

This convenient handout for landlords and managers on the benefits of creating smokefree multi-unit housing is available in two versions: one for a rural audience and one for an urban audience. Both rural and urban versions include information on the health risks of secondhand smoke, the economic and health benefits of smokefree housing policies, and resources for adopting smokefree policies. The images in each version reflect a mix of families and seniors in their homes and communities.

UPDATED Keep Your Family Healthy

This fact card reminds healthcare providers to kindly ask their patients about whether they use commercial tobacco. If they do use it, the healthcare provider should talk respectfully about the benefits of quitting, advising them to quit if they are ready. If they are ready to quit commercial tobacco, the provider should refer them to free cessation services. Encourages respect for traditional tobacco use in the American Indian Community while discouraging commercial tobacco abuse.

This fact card encourages American Indian families to keep tobacco use sacred by respecting native traditions and freeing themselves from the harmful effects of commercial tobacco abuse. Explains some of the differences between traditional tobacco and commercial tobacco. Offers ways to protect your family by asking others not to use commercial tobacco in shared spaces.

UPDATED Don’t Litter This sign urges people not to litter tobacco products. It emphasizes that the plastic and chemicals in tobacco product waste are toxic to the environment and wildlife. People who use commercial tobacco products are urged to properly dispose of cigarette butts and vape products.

Kick It App: Quit Smoking | Vaping Free iOS and Android app uses Kick It California’s clinically proven behavior change strategies to help smokers and vapers quit tobacco and nicotine.
