aping has consequences. dy know about some problems.

Nicotine is addictive

Vaping hasn’t been around long enough for us to know all the long-term effects, but we already know ways it can hurt your body, people around you and the planet.

Nicotine is a very addictive drug. It doesn’t cause the effects that drugs like opioids, marijuana or alcohol do. But it changes the way your brain works—it teaches your brain to repeat a behavior to get the drug. Once your brain learns how to get nicotine, it starts to crave it. Eventually, you don’t feel normal without nicotine. It can cause problems with learning, memory and attention. Vaping is not safe for teens and young adults because nearly all vapes contain nicotine, even those labeled nicotine-free. Vaping makes you more likely to get addicted to cigarettes and other drugs.

Vapes can harm people nearby The nicotine in vape liquid can be very harmful to children and animals if it’s eaten. It causes nausea, vomiting, dizziness, difficulty breathing and seizures. If someone has swallowed nicotine, you should call a poison center. Nicotine can also be absorbed through skin and should be washed off immediately. When someone vapes, people and animals nearby breathe in the vape aerosol whether they want to or not. They breathe in some of the same tiny particles and nicotine inhaled by the person vaping. Vapes hurt the environment Vapes are a serious threat to the environment. The plastic waste is a problem and there’s also toxic waste. Two parts of a vape device require hazardous waste disposal: the cartridge and the battery. The cartridge is toxic if it has any amount of nicotine liquid, which pollutes soil and water. Batteries release toxic materials like cadmium, nickel, lead and mercury. When vape devices are tossed into household trash and dumped in landfills they release toxic chemicals that endanger wildlife, humans and the environment.
