My sixth-grade class was discussing grief and loss

during the unit on Emotional and Mental Health, which included a segment on how to find trusted adults for support. One student shared that his two cousins died the night before in a car crash. I gently affirmed his feelings and offered my condolences. When class ended, three students went over to give the grieving student hugs.
