Fillable PDFs. Some materials allow you to add your own contact information. Simply download the PDF, enter your information in the fillable field, then print as usual.

MatBuilder. A free online tool that allows you to customize or adapt select TECC educational materials. See page 14 for more details.

Technical Assistance (TA). CTPP-funded projects can submit a TA ticket using MatTrack. Our designers can customize almost any material in our catalog.

Who We Are The Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC), a project of ETR, is a statewide technical assistance provider dedicated to supporting the development and distribution of effective educational materials and social media messaging. Ready-to-Use Educational Materials Download high-quality, ready-to-print brochures, fact sheets, and more, available in multiple languages about various tobacco prevention topics. MatBuilder This free online tool allows TECC website users to customize select TECC materials and create PDFs to download and save. Options include colors, images, and languages. Technical Assistance (TA) We collaborate with funded projects to develop culturally relevant educational materials and social media messaging. • Educational Materials: Get personalized TA for educational material development, including copy editing, graphic design, translation, and more. • Social Media: Get comprehensive support to grow your organic social media presence with platform intros, social media plans, functionality assistance, and more.

NEW Switching to Nicotine Pouches Isn’t Quitting

This fact card emphasizes that nicotine is not safe in any form, whether it is lab-made nicotine or nicotine from a tobacco leaf. Nicotine is extremely addictive, harmful to your heart, toxic for developing brains, and poisonous. Nicotine pouches are not approved as quitting tools by the Food and Drug Administration. Includes information on cessation services provided by Kick It California.

NEW Unflavored Tobacco List, Postcard

The Unflavored Tobacco List (UTL), published by the California Office of the Attorney General, is a comprehensive list of unflavored tobacco products that ARE legal to sell in California. If a product is not listed on the UTL, it is considered an illegal flavored product and is subject to fines and seizure. These laws apply to in-store and online sales. This postcard provides a link to view the UTL and find more information at the Office of the Attorney General’s website.

NEW Nicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) can double a person’s chances of quitting tobacco or nicotine for good. NRT quit aids include chewing gum, lozenges, inhalers, nasal spray, and skin patches. They all deliver a controlled, safe amount of nicotine that reduces withdrawal symptoms and helps people manage cravings. This fact sheet informs people about NRT and encourages readers to consider using it as they start their quit journey.

NEW Isaiah’s Story This fact card features the story of Isaiah, a Californian spotlighted in UNDO’s Exhale Campaign. Isaiah explains how he started vaping to deal with stress but decided to quit when he caught his young son trying to use his vape. It emphasizes the importance of listening and having an ongoing conversation. Includes information regarding the harmful effects of nicotine on teens’ developing brains. This Simplified Chinese-language double-sided fact card urges youth and young adults who vape to prioritize quitting by emphasizing that nicotine is toxic and harms the developing brain; that vaping can harm mental health, sports performance and academics; and that vaping can cause serious health problems. NEW The Truth About Nicotine Pouches, Russian This Russian-language fact card addresses nicotine pouches, a smokeless nicotine product introduced by tobacco companies. The pouches are made with synthetic nicotine and do not contain tobacco. Little is known about their long-term health effects, but the amount of nicotine in the pouches is so high that they are certainly addictive and toxic. They cause throat pain, mouth sores, and nausea. Also available in English (J099) and Spanish (J099SP) .

NEW Protect Your Pets, Spanish

This Spanish-language brochure includes information on how secondhand smoke— from cigarettes, vapes, and other tobacco products—can be harmful to pets and people. Cats are at greater risk of cancer of the lymph nodes and the mouth. Dogs are at greater risk of nose and lung cancer. Birds are at greater risk of pneumonia and lung cancer. Great for veterinary offices, animal shelters, and pet stores. Also available in English (J705) .

NEW Vaping Facts, Russian The simple design of this Russian-language fact card clearly highlights the harmful effects of vaping. Revised Materials Our recently revised materials find fresh new ways to support your education and outreach efforts. We have updated our materials for parents and other caring adults on talking with teens about vaping and preventing nicotine addiction among youth. We have also updated materials designed to encourage healthcare administrators to adopt smokefree policies for their facilities.

Free iOS and Android app uses Kick It California’s clinically proven behavior change strategies to help smokers and vapers quit tobacco and nicotine. 5 things you can do with the Kick It App:

1. Check In Daily Checking in with yourself is one of the first steps to behavior change. The Check In button allows you to quickly log your smoking/vaping behavior. 2. Track Progress Tracks days quit and how much money you’ve saved. Earn badges along the way. 3. Build a Quit Plan Log what triggers you to smoke/vape and choose strategies to use when you’re triggered. Adjust your plan as you go. 4. Crush Cravings Get through urges to smoke and vape using our guided breathing exercises, visualizations, and games. 5. MatBuilder, short for “material builder,” is a free online tool that allows TECC website users to customize or adapt select TECC educational materials and create PDFs to download and save. For each material, you will have the option of changing colors, images, and languages.
